Golden Retriever: The sun is shining, the day is young, we've got our whole lives ahead of us, and you're inside worrying about a stupid burned out bulb? Border Collie: Just one. And then I'll replace any wiring that's not up to code. Dachshund: You know I can't reach that stupid lamp! Rottweiler: Make me.
A Letter To My Cats & Dog
Dear Cats and Dog,
The dishes with the paw print are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate of food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.
The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack.
A new park in Hillsboro?
I attended a planning meeting yesterday at the Hillsboro city offices to discuss a plan to convert a 41 acre site at 53rd & Baseline into a community park. Ideas include a community lawn area, sports fields, demonstration gardens and a community center with basketball and tennis courts, jogging track etc. After feedback from an initial consultation phase, a number of other features are being considered including a doggy off leash area which [Becky](/pets/becky) would love.
Basketball at PCC Killingsworth
PCC Panthers played the CCC Cougars on February 15th in two intense battles that saw the men’s Cougars beat PCC 69-66 and the ladies beat PCC 66-61.
I shot the game, played in the new Killingsworth Road gym, as part of a PCC News Photography course. The lightning speed of the game and lighting conditions made for possibly the most challenging conditions I have ever attempted.
Both teams played superbly - well worth an evening out!
An evening’s entertainment
A few winters back when I was working as a support engineer, I was called to a job at an unusual religious sect’s mountain retreat. It was a complicated job and took me well into the evening. By then the snow had fallen and getting home would be difficult so they offered me dinner and room for a night which I happily accepted.
However dinner was a slightly odd affair with very little conversation and what there was muted.
Common computer terms
Digging through some very old papers, I found a really old glossary of computer terms from the days of mainframe computing (the copy is have is data February 1977). Punched cards might be a thing of the past, but the spirit of those old programmers still lives on.
**Computer** Device for transforming boring clerical operations into boring manual operations. **Program** A sequence of instructions telling a computer how to loop and halt unexpectedly.
The end is in sight
Do you believe in miracles? It's almost unthinkable, but the forecast on [weather.com](http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/97124) for Hillsboro shows that tomorrow's rain will be the last for 10 whole days - yippee! So far this year, the only outdoor photographs I've caught here have been of the [ducks](/photography/wildlife/wet_feet.html), I guess Puddletown is really living up to it's name this year :-) [ ](/u/2007/03/11/wet_feet.jpg)
Project Gotham Racing 3
[ ](http://www.pgr360.com/) For all those fans of Project Gotham Racing 3 on the XBox 360, there is a [new fan site](http://www.pgr360.com/) based here in Oregon. The site looks great and has launched with a hack to let you roam freely on any map - way cool :-)
Did you see Crumbs on ABC Thursday night?
This really was the WORST kind of comedy, firstly because it really wasn’t funny but even worse because it is so hurtful and ill-informed.
Suzanne Crumb comes home from a psychiatric hospital, following a “nervous breakdown” in which she tried to run her husband down with her car and attempted suicide, after a divorce and the death of one of their three sons. The show is full of stereotypes, offensive language, and trivialization of serious issues.
Cannon Beach
The [rain](http://www.kgw.com/news-local/stories/kgw_010606_news_flooding_weather.4f71ce89.html) keeps coming with almost an inch more today in Hillsboro, but in the breaks we did at least get some sunshine. Donna and I took the opportunity to get out to [Cannon Beach](http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=cannon+beach+oregon&btnG=Search&ll=45.881944,-123.963056&spn=0.083052,0.20874) to walk Becky and snap some great [photographs](/photography/cannon_beach/). The sandy beach is dominated by Haystack Rock, probably one of the most photographed natural sites in Oregon - so who am I to break with tradition :-) [!
