WordPress Remote Command Execution
The [SANS Institute](http://sans.org/) has unconfirmed reports that all [WordPress](http://wordpress.org/) version (2.0.2 and prior) are vulnerable to a remote command execution vulnerability and an IP spoofing attack. By [sending a specially-crafted request](http://retrogod.altervista.org/wordpress_202_xpl.html), an attacker can cause servers which open user registration or open account information modification to execute arbitrary commands with the privilege of the web server process. ![[WordPress]](/u/2007/03/10/wordpress-logo.png) A flaw in the processing of client request headers allows the attacker to spoof their source IP in the WordPress logs, although web server logs should remain unaffected.
You sass that hoopy frood?
Analogies and Metaphors
Every year, English teachers from across the country can submit their collections of actual analogies and metaphors found in high school essays. These excerpts are published each year to the amusement of teachers across the country. Here are last year's winners: 1. Her face was a perfect oval, like a circle that had its two sides gently compressed by a Thigh Master. 2. His thoughts tumbled in his head, making and breaking alliances like underpants in a dryer without Cling Free.
NAMI Walk
Donna and I met up with some old friends for the [NAMI](http://www.nami.org/) Walk in Portland today, and a great time was had by all. Spirits were high and the weather was warm for the thousands of participants in the 5K walk, which hopes to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for mental health support in the Portland area. Thanks to everyone who supported Donna and I for the walk, and to all those individuals and companies who supported NAMI today and every day.
Oregon NAMI Walk May 21st
[ ](http://www.nami.org/namiwalks06/NOR/pbrett) What are you doing on Sunday? Fancy a walk in the sun? Why not join me for the [NAMIWalks for the Mind of America](http://www.namiwalks.org/) at Vera Katz Eastbank Esplanade Festival Area. During the last three very difficult years, NAMI have provided my family with immeasurable hope, support and education allowing us to understand and start coping with mental illness. The sad fact of mental illness is that great harm can is often caused by the stigma associated with the disease, much as the stigma of HIV isolated and punished so many in the early '80s.
Crash tonight on Glencoe Road
Friday nights weather has taken it's toll on the roads in Hillsboro, with this head on crash on [Glencoe Road](http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=NW+Glencoe+Rd+%26+NE+shannon+St,+Hillsboro,+OR+97124&ll=45.5383,-122.99576&spn=0.005088,0.014849&t=h) about an hour ago. No fatalities, but four people were injured. The Life-Flight ferried one occupant from Glencoe High school to hospital and another was carried by ambulance. The other two occupants were treated on the scene. [ ](/u/2007/03/10/crash.jpg)
Freegeek
[FreeGeek](http://www.freegeek.org/) on [SE 10th & Market](http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=1731+se+10th+ave,+portland,+or&ll=45.510521,-122.655838&spn=0.00509,0.014849) is a voluntary organization dedicated to reduce waste and encourage reuse and recycling of computers. They run an adoption program that allows anyone to volunteer in the recycling facility and earn a computer in exchange 24 hours work. Alternatively, you can volunteer for the "build" program and learn everything you always wanted to know about PC construction. Personally, I have just started to volunteer with the systems administration group maintaining the networks, mailing lists etc.
No dog park at 53rd Avenue
The City of Hillsboro presented there preferred plan for the new park at 53rd and baseline this evening, and whilst the city had received many requests for a dog park, the final proposal was not to include it due to concerns over the neighborhood impact. In a further effort to reduce the impact of the park, the multi-level parking structure has been removed and buffer zones on the periphery of the park have been introduced.
Final proposal for the Hillsboro park
Hillsboro city will be presenting the final design proposal tonight for the [new park](http://www.53rdavenuepark.org/) at 53rd & Baseline. Will the plan include a dog park? Come and joins us at the [town hall meeting](http://www.53rdavenuepark.org/Content/10002/Community_Meetings.html) tonight to find out :-)
